Rhetoric

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

  1. I claim that there is NO wisdom from 'above' because there is no knowledge produced. There is no knowledge produced because it's all made up stuff. All these attributes supposedly derived from this 'above' wisdom are applied TO whatever notions are presented. The question then becomes, from where do these attributions originally come? And the answer, as mundane as it may seem, seems pretty conclusive when you follow the evidence reality offers: from our biology. And that's pretty cool.

  2. Tildeb, even if really IS just a matter of "biology", don't you think they are wonderful values to live by?? I'd love to see dealings between people take on that flavour, in or out of
    "christian" circles!!

  4. Mr T - I think it comes down to loving and valuing *people*. If you do, the other stuff kind of follows - you'll be gentle, reasonable, willing to listen, without hidden agendas... etc. I really like the idea of "impartiality" too - so important for building community. If you can listen to someone's point of view without judging them... makes dialogue so much more possible!
