I truly believe (to use a bit of "christianese" that the church pretty much represents the pharisees of Jesus' day. Ironic. (& I know you won't misunderstand me, because we've had this conversation) - but to clarify, I don't think most christians are bad-hearted people or anything like that - however the "system of religion" we have built and called "Christianity" IS legalistic and damaging at heart. I think Jesus would have abhorred it!Kerry Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03051264598690393719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6253824019426659573.post-67814033526986124222013-05-04T07:00:38.989+10:002013-05-04T07:00:38.989+10:00Totally agree... Even when I was involved with church and had 'faith' as such, I was always confused by the concept about the vigilance of stopping 'sinners' from sinning, whether these 'sinners' were 'saved' or not... There was no talk of love and acceptance, just rules and judgement... Don't think it's changed much. You commented!! & thanks for the encouragement! :) The further I get from "the institution", the more I see this as "the elephant in the room" - glaringly obvious to everyone outside, and seemingly invisible to the occupants!! Such is human nature, I guess!Kerry Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03051264598690393719noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6253824019426659573.post-28243431423511036592013-04-20T11:15:35.897+10:002013-04-20T11:15:35.897+10:00Great post. If your (the royal your) ultimate goal is to bring people to faith, the way to do that does not include abusive and deliberately inflammatory words and actions. That just makes you look foolish and hypocritical.

(LOL, I just looked up hyposcritical in thesaurus to see if there was a word that suited better. One of the (unexpected!)definitions was impious/not religious.)Ginnynoreply@blogger.com
